Con Gilsenan opened the doors of Con’s bar in the heart of Mullingar on December 1983. It is a friendly, family run, tastefully styled pub & restaurant. Simply put, Con’s is casual enough to make you feel comfortable and smart enough to make you feel special. Serving freshly prepared lunches Monday – Friday and open as a bar Monday – Sunday till late.
In October 1999 the pub underwent a huge renovation and extension, reopening its doors for the Christmas of 1999. The new look Con’s had distinct modern chic interior, which it has maintained to this day due to a number of refurbishments. The current capacity of the venue is 200 people and also boasts of a spacious beer garden.
The bar has a deep sporting heritage, Con has a long standing association with Mullingar RFC and is a sporting fanatic. His son Conor, has played professional rugby for 9 years with Leinster, Connacht & London Irish. Our passion for sport is all encompassing, from sponsoring numerous local teams over the years to providing a special place to watch Irish internationals and other sporting occasions. With HD widescreen TVs throughout the premises, there isn’t a bad seat in the house and the atmosphere is electric!
Con’s is a great success story of a family run business with Con & his wife Joan at the helm since the doors opened in 1983. It is built on hard work, dedication and a fantastic team working behind the bar and in the kitchen. However, it wouldn’t be where it is today without the loyal patrons of Mullingar who have supported us from the outset, and we are eternally thankful for that.
